Overview

What is Janu Basti — Ayurvedic Knee Warm Oil Ritual?

Janu Basti is a traditional Ayurvedic ritual in which warm herbal oil is held over the knee within a carefully prepared dough ring. It is offered as a quiet, warming wellbeing experience — the area and oil are selected following a short suitability discussion.

At The Ayur Chikitsa in York, every Janu Basti is personalised following your Ayurvedic consultation, with warm herbal oils chosen to reflect your individual constitution (Prakriti) and current state of balance (Vikriti).
