Overview

What is Padabhyanga?

Padabhyanga is the traditional Ayurvedic massage of the feet, ankles and lower legs, offering a deeply grounding experience. In Ayurveda, the feet are considered to contain numerous Marma points — vital energy points described in traditional Ayurvedic texts — making Pada Abhyanga a ritual with a wider symbolic meaning.

At The Ayur Chikitsa in York, every Padabhyanga combines warm Ayurvedic herbal oils, skilled Ayurvedic massage techniques and the traditional Kansa Wand, a bronze massage tool used in India for centuries. Following an Ayurvedic consultation, oils and techniques are thoughtfully chosen to reflect your constitution (Prakriti) and current wellbeing priorities. Whether your days are spent on your feet, at a desk or moving between the two, this luxurious Ayurvedic foot ritual in York invites a slower pace. Pada Abhyanga is a wonderful moment of care for anyone in need of a proper unwind.
