Ayurvedic & Yogic context
Traditionally considered energising, warming and stimulating.
Traditionally used in Kapha-oriented practices.
Yogic tradition associates Bhastrika with movement of Prana.
Bhastrika is traditionally considered energising, warming and stimulating. In Ayurveda it is associated with Kapha-oriented practice and qualities such as heaviness or sluggishness.
Evidence in context
Research has examined pulmonary and cardiovascular responses. Rapid breathing may acutely increase heart rate and blood pressure, making it inappropriate for some people with cardiovascular disease.
