Menstrual & Cyclical Wellbeing
For many people the month has a rhythm of its own — energy, appetite, sleep and mood can shift at different stages of the cycle.
Does this sound familiar?
Experiences people often describe
- cramping around your period
- bloating
- breast tenderness
- feeling more tired before your period
- changes in mood
- feeling irritable or emotional
- headaches around your cycle
- changes in appetite or cravings
- periods that sometimes arrive earlier or later
- changes in how you feel at different stages of your cycle
A traditional Ayurvedic perspective
In traditional Ayurveda, Apana Vata is a concept associated with downward-moving functions in the pelvic region, and is traditionally discussed in relation to the menstrual cycle.
A consultation may explore digestion, stress, sleep, nourishment, movement and individual constitution through this traditional framework. These traditional concepts are not equivalent to a medical diagnosis or to an assessment of hormonal function.
This traditional framework does not replace medical investigation of painful, heavy or irregular periods.
What we explore in your consultation
Depending on your individual circumstances, your consultation may explore:
- patterns across your cycle
- nourishment and meal rhythm
- digestion
- sleep
- movement and rest
- stress and workload
- self-care practices
The purpose is to understand your everyday wellbeing patterns and provide practical, personalised diet and lifestyle guidance.
